Maria Cicchiello, 23, of Rte. 66, passed away Friday (August 5, 2005) from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born March 8, 1982, she was the daughter of John and Karleen (Stula) Cicchiello. Maria graduated from Lyman High School in Lebanon. She then went to college in Storrs and graduated from the University of Connecticut in the Field of Equestrian Sciences. Maria continued her studies for a year at the University of Limerick in Ireland. Maria was in the process of building her own business, working as a horse trainer in the Hunter Jumper, and Equestrian disciplines. Her love of horses spanned her lifetime and she was highly decorated with awards for her talents. Maria will be lovingly remembered for her unique sense of humor and her passion for life. Including her parents, she is survived by her sisters, Kara and Eve Cicehiello of Columbia; maternal grandparents, John and Mary Stula of Columbia; her paternal grandmother; Ann Cicchiello of Waterbury; an uncle, Karl, his wife, Michelle and their sons, John and Shawn of Colchester; and numerous extended family members and friends.

Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, directly at St. Andrew Church in Colchester. Burial will follow in New St. Andrew Cemetery in Colchester.
