CHSA CONGRATULATES THREE NEW SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

The CHSA Board of Directors congratulates the winners of three CHSA Scholarships. The Scholarship Committee had several applications to consider and is proud to announce that the following members are each receiving a $1,500 scholarship. Applications are due July 1, 2014, for the 2014 CHSA Scholarship Awards.
- Irene Peluso of Farmington is a Junior at Fairfield University with a double major of Pre-Med and English. Irene is a member of several honor societies including the National Honor Society. She rides out of Folly Farm where she has been active as the Folly farm Junior Committee Co-Chair organizing fund raising events to benefit the Hole In The Wall Gang.
- Harpur Schwartz of Guilford is a Freshman at Connecticut College and rides at Hummingbird Hollow Farm in Mystic, CT. Harpur graduated from Hamden Hall Country Day School in 2013 and was a member of the Cum Laude Society. Harpur has been a volunteer at High Hopes Therapeutic Riding since 2009 and plans to continue volunteering in college. She was selected as the first recipient of the CHSA Hal A. Vita Sr. Humanitarian Award in 2011. Harpur has been a volunteer at the CHSA Finals and CHSA Celebration of Champions for many years in numerous positions; one of her favorite jobs has been leading the Parade of Champions at the CHSA Annual Banquet. In her riding career, Harpur was the CHSA Children’s Hunter Champion in 2009 and 2012 on two different horses.
- Paige Vinson of Mystic is a Freshman at Stetson University in Florida where she is pursuing a degree in Psychology. Paige has volunteered at High Hopes Therapeutic riding center as well as many community service hours in both Florida and Connecticut. She rides out of Hummingbird Hollow where she has worked with many of the younger children. Paige now rides on the Equestrian Team for Stetson.
